More and more people in Toronto are finding it harder and harder to afford
housing in Toronto. With very little new social housing or affordable housing
being developed in Toronto, the waiting lists continue to grow. There are
134,176 people on the waiting list as of the end of 2009.
Housing Connections has submitted a position paper to the Ontario government on
a number of improvements to the system to make social housing and affordable
housing more accessible. Housing Connections works directly with housing
workers, applicants and landlords and has first hand, close-to-the-ground
experience in the affect of government housing policy.
